The second Paul Street Block Party, featuring games for the family, food and beverages for sale, community groups, and crafters and vendors, will be held Saturday, Oct. 24.
“It was a great success last year,” Council Chair John James said at the Sept. 8 council meeting. “I am all for this.”
There was strong interest in the 2026 Block Party, according to the Town website, and all vendor spots were filled by Aug. 27. The party is a great chance for residents to connect with their neighbors, the website says.
The council approved closure of Paul Street from 7 a.m. until 3 p.m. Oct. 24. In addition, to allow for event set-up and breakdown, the municipal Paul Street parking lot will be closed from noon on Friday, Oct 23, until noon on Sunday, Oct 25 .
James suggested town officials look into two abandoned vehicles in the parking lot – a motorcycle he said hasn’t been moved in two years and a truck left with its windows open for about eight months. Interim Town Manager Jennifer Janelle said she would alert staff to take care of the situation.
Hazardous material disposal day Sept. 19
Citizens of all three Berwicks will be able to dispose of hazardous materials from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept 19, at 2 Industry Drive in Berwick, on Route 4 across from Lowery’s Patio Furniture Showroom.
Proof of residency is required and there are limits to what products can be dropped off. For example, latex paint, medications and medical waste will not be accepted.
Permissible items include oil-based paints, varnishes and stains, pesticides, oven and drain cleaners, glues and fertilizers.
