To date, only one candidate has filed to run for one of the two open seats on the Town Council, both of them three-year terms.
Anthony Palazzetti is running for one of two vacancies created by the departures of Chair John James and Vice Chair Mallory Cook.
Palazzetti, retired assistant director of Field Operations for U.S. Customs and Border Protections in Boston, serves on the South Berwick Planning Board and the town’s Municipal Procurement Policy Ad Hoc Committee.
For the MSAD 35 school board, one individual has filed to run for a one-year seat, while an incumbent board member is seeking reelection to a three-year term.
Perrin Chick, community engagement director at Maine Mathematics and Science Alliance in Augusta, is running for the one-year seat being vacated by Lisa Flynn, who is leaving the board before the end of her third three-year term. Chick serves on the South Berwick Public Library Advisory Board.
Heather Holland of South Berwick, associate dean of Online Learning at Maine College of Art & Design in Portland, is running for a second term on the school district’s Board of Directors.
Residents have until the close of business Friday, Sept. 4, to file nomination papers, including at least 25 signatures of registered South Berwick voters required.
The Town has also put out a call for people willing to volunteer as Election Day workers on Nov. 4.
“The South Berwick Town Clerk’s Office is always looking for community members who are interested in supporting the democratic process by serving as Election Workers,” according to the Town website.
