The final list of candidates for Town Council and MSAD 35 Board of Directors will be available today after the town clerk reviews and certifies the nomination papers, according to Town Clerk Monique Ward.

Ward said Thursday she expected to complete the process by Sept. 8 so the certified list of candidates can be sent to the ballot printer. At that point, Ward will release the names of all candidates certified for local offices.

Residents had until the close of business Friday, Sept. 4, to file nomination papers, which required at least 25 signatures of registered South Berwick voters.

As of Aug. 31, only one candidate, Anthony Palazzetti, had filed to run for one of the two open seats on the Town Council created by the announced departures of Chair John James and Vice Chair Mallory Cook.

For school board, Perrin Chick had filed to run for the one-year seat being vacated by Lisa Flynn, who is leaving the board before the end of her third three-year term; and Heather Holland had filed to run for a second term on the board.

The Reporter will publish the names of candidates as soon as they become available.
