Police report 39 motor vehicle stops, one DUI arrest

An arrest was made during one of 39 motor vehicle stops listed on the police logs covering Sept. 9- 22. A 42-year-old male from Seabrook, N.H., was arrested Sept.18 for operating under the influence near Marshwood High School, according to Lt. Scott Stephens.

Police also responded to six motor vehicle accidents with no arrests. One of the accidents was listed as a vehicle crash on Sept. 18 at 425 Emery’s Bridge Road. The driver of the vehicle was taken to the hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, Stephens said.

Other vehicle crashes were Sept. 9 at Emerys Bridge Road and Rodier Road; Sept. 12 at First Parish First Federated Church at 150 Main St. ; Sept. 13 at 175 Bennett Lot Road, vehicle towed; Sept. 16 at South Berwick Town Hall; and Sept. 18 at Route 236 and 37 Academy Street .

A burglary from a motor vehicle occurred at 4:44 p.m. Sept. 15 at The Links at Outlook Golf Course, according to the log. It did not indicate what was taken.This is “an open investigation, and no information will be provided at this time,” Stephens said.

A vandalism call at 6:13 p.m. Sept. 18 at Marshwood High School, also investigated, “involves juveniles, and no school property was damaged,” according to Stephens. A single noise complaint was listed with “peace restored” on Sept. 22 at 12:15 a.m. near the Stage House Inn on Main Street.

A warning was issued for a large outdoor fire Sept. 17 at 16 Butler St.; and a brush fire was extinguished Sept. 17 at 2 Wilderness Way.

There were 18 medical assist incidents in town during the two-week period, not an unusual number. In all cases York Ambulance was called, and in 15 cases an individual was transported to the hospital.
