Police make seven arrests in past two weeks

Seven people were arrested by South Berwick police during the period from Aug. 12 to 25, including four who were arrested during separate motor vehicle stops.

These incidents were among 87 motor vehicle stops by local police during the two-week period. The following information was provided by the Police Department.

A 46-year old male was arrested Aug. 12 at the police station on a warrant from Massachusetts. He was at the police station on another matter when the warrant was discovered, according to Lt. Scott Stephens.

An 18-year-old male was issued a summons Aug. 13 for operating after suspension during a motor vehicle stop at the corner of Portland and Goodwin streets

A 36-year-old male was arrested Aug. 14 for possession of drugs and violation of conditions of release during a motor vehicle stop at Great Works School.

A 34-year- old female was arrested Aug. 16 at Aroma Joe’s after a motor vehicle stop and was issued a summons for operating without a valid license.

A 22-year-old female was arrested Aug. 18 on a warrant from the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office after a motor vehicle stop at Powderhouse Hill. The warrant charge was not noted in the arresting officer’s report, said Stephens.

A 28-year-old male was arrested Aug. 20 at 133 Portland St. on a warrant for failure to appear on a criminal mischief charge.

Police and Fire departments and York Ambulance responded to a vehicle crash on Aug. 17 at York Woods Road and Hemlock Ridge Lane.  “A single vehicle went off the road with no injuries or charges,” Stephens said.

Two burglaries were listed, one in Berwick and one in North Berwick, but Stephens said his officers were only called to assist.
