Police arrest resident for firing gun at Cummings Mill

A resident of the Cummings Mill Apartments was arrested on a charge of reckless conduct after accidentally firing a gun from the building, according to the South Berwick Police Department.

Police dispatch received a call at approximately 5 p.m. Sept. 30 reporting an alleged accidental firing of a .22 caliber gun near a window at Cummings Mill Apartments.

According to Deputy Chief Scott Stephens, a 22-year-old male who lives at the 2 Railroad Ave. apartment building had fired a .22 caliber gun through a window that faces a wooded area.

“It is unknown where the bullet went and there have been no reports of any damage in the area,” Stephens said.
