A South Berwick resident who has worked as the Eliot town planner has accepted the position of town planner and economic development director for South Berwick, and is scheduled to start the job July 6.
Jeff Brubaker, of Witchtrot Road, will appear before the Town Council May 26 for final approval. The position opened when former planner DeCarlo Brown resigned this spring to accept a job in Auburn.
Brubaker has worked for the town of Eliot as town planner since 2020, according to his LinkedIn profile.
A resident of South Berwick since 2021, Brubaker told the South Berwick-Eliot Rotary Club, where he was describing the Eastern Trail bike trail, that he first entered the state of Maine with his girlfriend by bike at the Dover/South Berwick line, according to a February 2025 article in the South Berwick Reporter. That girlfriend is now his wife and they have a 3-year-old son.
