Police arrest four drivers, respond to eight accidents Aug. 11 to 24

Three females and one male were arrested during motor vehicle stops between Aug. 11 and Aug. 24, according to Deputy Chief Scott Stephens.

On Aug. 14 at 10:22 a.m., a 28-year-old female from Dover was charged with operating without a valid license during a motor vehicle stop near Central School and Main Street.

On Aug. 18 at 2:02 p.m., a 34-year-old female from South Berwick was charged with attaching false plates during a motor vehicle stop on Portland Street.

On Aug. 19 at 10:14 p.m., a 36-year-old female from South Berwick was charged with operating under the Influence following a motor vehicle complaint near the Norton Street Apartments on Norton Street.

On Aug. 21 at 11:49 a.m., a 51-year-old male from South Berwick was charged with operating under the influence and operating with a suspended license after a vehicle crash near York Woods Road and Route 236.

In other police calls during the two-week period, a complaint listed at 9:16 a.m. Aug. 5 on Witchtrot Road involved an “open fraud investigation,” according to Stephens. A person listed as missing on Town Forest Road at 7:44 p.m. Aug. 15 was someone who “went for a walk that was longer than expected,” and a terrorizing/threatening call from Knight’s Pond Road listed at 7:18 p.m. Aug. 21 was related to non-criminal relationship/custody issues, he said.

Eight accidents were listed during the period of Aug. 11- 24, with one person transported to the hospital:

  • August 12, 3:16 p.m., near Nature’s Way Market and Main Street
  • August 13, 3:56 p.m., near Route236 and York Woods Road
  • August 15, 7:40 p.m., near Route 236 and Main Street
  • August 16, 1:05 p.m., near Desrochers Memorial Forest and Knight’s Pond Road
  • August 20, 2:26 p.m., on Knight’s Pond Road
  • August. 21, 11:49 a.m., near Route 236 and York Woods Road (one arrest)
  • August 22, 3:05 p.m., on Paul Street
  • August 24, 8:36 p.m., on Emery’s Bridge Road (one hospital transport)
