Jenifer McCabe, the town’s code enforcement officer since July 2022, will leave her post at the end of the month, according to Jennifer Janelle, assistant town manager and human resource officer.
McCabe gave no reason for her resignation when she gave notice Feb. 3, but agreed to work until the end of the month, Janelle said.
The town has advertised for McCabe’s replacement. In the meantime, Janelle said, the staff is working to find an interim code enforcement officer.
Besides enforcing zoning and subdivision ordinances, the CEO also serves as the Town’s building inspector and plumbing inspector, evaluates building plans, and issues necessary permits.
When asked by text about her resignation, McCabe told the South Berwick Reporter she had “no comment.”
McCabe has led the code enforcement office since the departure of Joe Rousselle, South Berwick’s longtime code enforcement officer.
