Police offer second Community Police Academy

Want to learn more about the Police Department? Curious about the criminal justice system? Citizens are invited to sign up for a free six-week community police academy offered at the South Berwick Police Department. Applications for the program must be returned by Thursday, Sept. 12.

Classes for this overview of what police officers do during their shifts will be held on Thursdays, 3 to 5 p.m., Sept. 21 through Oct. 24. 

South Berwick police officers, law enforcement from other communities, and representatives of community awareness groups will teach the classes. More information is available from Sgt.Jeffrey Pelkey at (207) 252-3065 or jpelkey@sbpd.us.

Participants must be 21 years of age or older, have no prior felony arrests or misdemeanor arrests in the past five years, and must pass a basic background check.

Applications can be picked up in the lobby of the police station.
