A food truck will soon be selling coffee and ice cream from the Punkintown area.
The Town Council on May 12 approved an application from Tom Howarth, of Lord’s Lane, to open a food truck that will run two operations.
The Jitterbug Cafe will serve coffee drinks and breakfast items in the morning. In the afternoon, the same truck will become Punkintown Scoops and will sell traditional hard-serve ice cream.
Howard owns and operates the commercial development at 2 Punkintown Road, known as Punkintown Place, according to his application.
“This feels like a good fit!” he wrote in his application. “Parents with kids at Leaps and Bounds daycare can enjoy a quick coffee at drop-off, and then at pick-up, treat their kiddo to an ice cream cone!”
Code Enforcement Officer Alan Plummer, who attended the meeting to review the application with the councilors, recommended they give final approval.
Details are yet to be worked out, such as allowable hours of operation, Plummer said. The truck will be able to use the existing sewer system in Punkintown, he noted.
