Police made five arrests between March 24 to April 6, including the arrest of Jeremy Godfrey at 11:41 a.m. March 26 for the alleged murder of Sherri Sweet, according to Lt. Scott Stephens. Godfrey was jailed without bail on March 28.

Also listed in the log were the arrest at 5:37 p.m. March 26 of a 56-year-old male from South Berwick charged with aggravated criminal mischief; at 11:14 a.m. April 1, a 34-year-old female from South Berwick charged with failure to register a vehicle for more than 150 days; and at 7:47 p.m. April 2, a 15-year-old juvenile charged with operating without a valid license.

The fifth arrest during that period was at 11:52 a.m. on April 3 during a motor vehicle stop near the Salmon Falls Animal Hospital on Goodwin Street. A 51-year-old male from South Berwick was charged with “permitting unlawful use,” which alleges allowing someone to drive a vehicle knowing that they are not properly licensed or permitted to do so, according to Stephens. No information on whether anyone else was charged was provided.

A parking violation stop at 5:28 p.m. April 4 resulted in the ticketing of four vehicles illegally parked on Paul Street.

A notice on the Police Department’s Facebook page on April 9 warned people who receive letters about unpaid parking tickets to take the letter seriously. Unpaid parking tickets can result in a summons to court. “Please help us avoid doing something we hate doing,” the department said in the post.
