Jeffrey Mowry, an employee of the South Berwick Transfer Station, has been named interim director of the facility until a permanent director is hired.

Mowry, who has worked at the Transfer Station almost two years, is replacing former Transfer Station Supervisor Dan Lancaster, who left the position to devote himself to his own business.

Under a reorganization developed by Town Manager Tim Pellerin, the title of the lead position has been changed from supervisor to director, according to Dawn Moreau, the town’s administrative executive assistant.

In addition, Transfer Station operations and personnel are now designated as a separate town department, Moreau said, and Transfer Station employees will report directly to the facility director instead of the Public Works Department director, as they did in the past.

The town is continuing to advertise for a new full-time director, as well as for a part-time attendant to fill a vacancy created by a previous attendant’s resignation.

Briella Ford of Lebanon, a student at York County Community College, was hired recently to fill the new part-time administrative assistant position at the Transfer Station. She will manage sales of the blue bags and be responsible for other record keeping and filing.
