Home For The Holidays

Two popular local holiday traditions, Home for the Holidays and the Rollinsford-South Berwick Christmas Parade, are coming together for the first time on Saturday, Dec. 2, for a day-long community celebration.

The parade, with holiday-themed floats and music, had heralded the start of the holiday season in South Berwick on the Saturday after Thanksgiving since 1984, while SoBo Central’s Home for the Holidays, launched in 2004, had brought people downtown for an evening of activities hosted at local businesses on the first Friday of December.

This year the two volunteer-run events are joining forces for a daytime event promoting the vitality of the downtown business district, family fun, and community spirit. The festivities will end with the parade and a tree lighting at Town Hall.

“The primary goal of this extraordinary event is to serve as a unifying force, binding the community in the spirit of the festive season,” according to information from the Home for the Holidays organizers. “With a lineup of activities, entertainment and celebrations throughout the day, this event is designed to foster a sense of togetherness and showcase the best of South Berwick.”
