The firm hired to do a market analysis of South Berwick’s economic development has presented its report to the Planning Board, and the town’s next step is to integrate this analysis into the Comprehensive Plan being drafted by a 13-member town committee.
This was the first time Jim Damicis, senior vice president of Camoin Associates of Saratoga Springs, NY, had been asked to give a report to a planning board, he told the board. Planning boards are infrequently involved in economic planning even though they are a vital part of putting in place any related strategy, he noted.
Damicis and Denise Clavette, South Berwick’s economic development director, offered highlights of the evaluation of the town’s assets and challenges, and suggested directions for the town’s economic health and growth. Encouraging small- and mid-sized industrial businesses and creating commercial/industrial flex or multi-purpose space would add value to the town’s business inventory, they said.
Camoin, an economic development consulting firm, first presented its report to the Town Council on June 27. https://tinyurl.com/2296fcyp
