SUMMARY:Community Chorus Concert
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an afternoon of music as the days get shorter and the fall settles to winter. \nThe concert will feature a multitude of styles including folk\, spirituals\, and gospel with accompaniment by bass\, piano\, and percussion. \nThis concert title is inspired by Wendell Berry’s poem “I Go Among Trees\,” which is featured in the composition by American composer Giselle Wyers of the same name. SUMMARY:Kenyon Hill ‘Berwick Branch’ History Walk w/ Brad Fletcher
DESCRIPTION:Step back into history with Brad Fletcher at the Kenyon Hill Preserve in So. Berwick. \nIn the decades following the Civil War\, the eastern part of Tatnic in South Berwick was sometimes called ‘Berwick Branch’ and so referenced on maps of the area. Located along the headwaters of the Ogunquit River\, the small community clustered around the intersections of Emery’s Bridge\, Tufts and Bennett’s Lot roads where Boyd’s Corner becomes the Ogunquit Road. Its few dozen families were mostly farmers supporting a local church\, school\, post office\, and the medley of shops and  trades found in rural areas. But even as its name began to first appear in print toward the end of the 19th century\, Berwick Branch\, like other small rural communities\, struggled to confront the challenges and opportunities posed by the surrounding modern world. \nWhile its geography precludes a walking tour of Berwick Branch\, the Kenyon Hill Preserve offers evidence of its history and fate.\n\nTerrain : hilly and steep in some sections. MODERATE.\nThis event is FREE to members\, a suggested donation of $5 per person for non-members. Reservations required.
