This short course blends engaging classroom lessons on local geology with guided field trips where you’ll explore landscapes firsthand and see Earth’s history come alive. This course will be divided up into 3 separate\, stand-alone sessions. Come to one or all.\n\nMarch 28\, 9:30am to noon: Introduction to basic geology focusing on southwestern Maine.  We will meet in the GWRLT Office at Beach Plum Farm for a talk by local geologist/retired science teacher\, Don Wasson.  He will go over basic geology and focus on interesting geological features that can be found in southwestern Maine. The majority of this session will be inside and will be the most academic of the 3 sessions.\n\n April 4\, 9:30am to noon:  Focus on igneous rock formations:  Meet at the parking lot at Nubble Lighthouse\, York. \n\n April 11\, 9:30am to noon: Focus on metamorphic rock formations:  We will meet at Beach Plum Farm prior to carpooling to the metamorphic rock formations in Ogunquit.
