Next year’s $35.8 million school budget for the Marshwood district was approved this week at the annual district meeting.
The budget, as presented earlier this spring by Superintendent John Caverly, is 3.4% more than this year’s spending, mainly to pay for higher payroll and electricity costs. The increase means a 3% rise in the local taxpayer portion of the bill, according to Caverly.
The final budget package now goes to a referendum vote at the polls on June 13.
About three dozen people attended the meeting.
